I think I am finally feeling it...

Recommended Posts

After 19 .5 weeks, I think I am finally feeling restriction with my band..

I had a Fluid fill on Thursday and I am sitting here on Monday at work eating my chicken and salad for lunch and finding that I need to chew like I've never chewed before. The first couple of bites were a bit difficult to swallow so I'm slowing it down and taking smaller bites which is working well. I am actually at the ever elusive green zone??? I really hope so...

Could be! Satiety should last at least 3-4 hours on a band sized meal as well. Good luck!

Don't get discouraged if it changes over time. Mine did. I had green for a few months and then went for more TINY fills. Your body is shrinking and it changes how the band fits with lots of weight loss. The beauty of the band is it is always adjustable. Enjoy this. It should get easier to lose now.

Yep, definitely there... Eating a sushi roll for lunch and have discovered that I can not eat them without a knife and fork!!!!

Varies from person to person...most banders I know talked about their love of sushi when first starting out, and eventually learned it was a food they could no longer even think about eating...some have the same with salads......

But, people approach this differently....you may be one who can eat anything and everything, and has to tell yourself when to stop.....not one who has to give up certain foods as they get that restriction

Good luck and congratulations....

I haven't found anything to be off limits yet, just that I have to take it slower. Loving it..

Hi Meg,

I got my band about the same time as you. You are doing so well with the weight you have lost. I lost good weight in the first month of about 15 pounds and I got my appetite back and it has been really tough just to maintain. I'm so happy to hear that you are feeling the restriction and hoping my will be here soon. I just had my 4th fill Tuesday and I think I'm at 6. How many fills have you had and were you able to stick to the plan while not being able to feel the restriction?

Sometimes I'm afraid that I will not be able to feel it or maybe I have eaten to much and stretched out my stomach. It is nice to hear good news from you:)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
