Kabby_Chick 17 Posted April 13, 2015 I'm almost 9 weeks post op VSG, with hiatal hernia repair, and I'm still having trouble eating most things. I'm barely getting 2 Premier Protein shakes and maybe a light baby bell cheese or a small amt of chicken in. I'm still getting that pressure/pain in my chest which slows me down from drinking and eating. My surgeon wasn't concerned when I saw him 2 weeks ago but the nutritionist seemed more worried when I saw her this week. Has anyone else experienced this? What is everyone able to eat at 9 weeks? CanyonBaby 1,852 Posted April 13, 2015 This might help a little: try adding unflavored Protein Powder to tepid or cool (not cold) Water. Add a few drops (to taste) Water Enhancer drops and mix really well. Another idea to help "prime" your new tummy, and ease your hernia repair a little is to drink a little tepid to warm (not hot) water first thing when you get up in the morning. Eat a few bites of very soft food to "prime" the tummy before eating firmer or hard/crunchy foods. I had the same issues, the same surgeries. These things were told to me by my dietician, and they REALLY helped me. Now, at 4 months out, I don't notice too much pain anymore with the hernia repair. My Dr. said it would take me about a year to fully recover from the hernia repair, as it was bad, and not to lift over 10lbs for that time. I hope this helps, and have a great evening!
