Weird body shape

Recommended Posts

So I'm looking for some reassurance I guess. I have lost 51 pounds total. 30 pre op and 21 since my surgery. I'm happy with my loss although I still have a long way to go. I know that my body will never go back to the same body I had pre 3 children and 100 pounds gained, but my body just looks weird right now. I'm losing from everywhere except my belly. My body looks disproportionate. I'm just wondering if anyone else had this happen and if things ever even out?

I think it must vary from person to person and their basic body shape. I am in the same boat that you are. I have always carried my weight in my belly/midsection. As I lost weight my arms, hands, legs, feet became so tiny. However, my fatty stomach was clinging on to dear life. So it was very disproportioned in the beginning.

Now that I am close to goal (12 pounds) it has evened out a lot and doesn't look so out of place. However, it still remains a problem area and will require a Tummy Tuck for it to match the rest of me!!

Hang it there it should even out as time passes. Good luck and congrats on your awesome weight loss.

I can't say as far as the surgery... I'm only 2 weeks out. But I've gained & lost a lot of weight several times over! Each time I remember it coming off differently, but always as I got to lowest weight it even out

Well before kids and weight gain I carried my weight in my butt and hips. But because of diabetes and having babies I gained a lot of belly fat :-/ I knew it wouldn't go back exactly to that body shape, but hoped it would be similar. Your answer gives me hope though :-) Thank you!

I have a different problem. I'm getting so thin in the upper half of my body that I can now see my ribs above my breasts, but my hips/legs are still HUGE. I'm *squeezing* into size 14 jeans.

I'm an apple shape and no amount of weight loss will change that. Even when I weighed 122 lbs, it was my waist that was a problem. Buying pants that fit at waist and not baggy at hips has been a problem for me at every weight from 122 lbs. to 250 lbs. Hips, thighs - not a problem. Stomach - big problem. Body shape, to a large degree, is genetic.

Oh yes, I was disproportionate in my weight loss phase. I'm an apple shape. chicken legs and a big middle. It will balance out with time.

Well, I've had plastics, so I've "cheated". My boobs are 100% fake.... I was flat as a board before that.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
