Surgery Tuesday and I have cheated a few times. Do u think this will kill my chances for surgery?

How are they gonna know you cheated? It's not like they took pictures of our livers to begin with right? If it was that big of a deal you'd think they would do an ultrasound or something like it to image it right? I have to do two weeks and I'm scared I'm gonna fail too ????

I'm very interested in what comments people leave here ???? I don't wanna mess up my chances either. I'm not given any amount to lose beforehand so what's the big deal!?

My sleeve, I don't think it will kill your chances. Just follow the plan from now on. I believe you have enough time to empty your stomach.

Salonboi my doctor has cancelled surgeries the day of surgery if patients have eaten too much. They know and put us on the pre op plan for a reason. Mainly to prevent complications and shrink the liver. The size of your liver is determined in proportion to your body. They assess the situation beforehand when they put you on your plan.

I don't believe that it will affect anything, unless for some reason you gain any weight from it. My surgeon has stated a few times that if you gain even 1lb over the goal weight that you are given he will cancel the surgery.

Good luck in your journey

Well, here's the thing. It's not really about whether the doctor finds out. It's about avoiding liver damage and other complications during surgery. The preop diet is done in order to shrink the size of your liver. Some surgeons are more experienced, skillful, or cautious and therefore some are more strict than others about this.

Do yourself the favor of maintaining your preop diet as closely as possible so that your surgery can go as smoothly as possible. Dealing with surgical complications will be much harder than foregoing the cheating during preop.

Good luck!

It could cause your surgeon to postpone your surgery if your liver is still fatty. Our head hunger is a difficult battle and you'll still have to face that battle post-op also. The pre-op diet is very important on many levels, so try and stay on track.

Good luck!

I don't have a surgical date but I see him for the date Tuesday. I am pretty much doing the pre surgical diet, just eating more Protein and calories. I hope to know a date Tuesday

The pre-op diet is for your own safety. If you watch videos of WLS, you will see hat the liver needs to be propped up out of the way during the op, because it sits on top of your stomach. If your liver is thick and fatty, it is much harder to manage and keep out of the way, increasing the risk of accidental damage to it during the surgery. Why take he unnecessary risk of cheating on the pre-op diet and not shrinking your liver as much as possible?

@@mysleeve, you can do this! The reason I explained the reason for the preop diet was because that is what helped me maintain it. Knowing that it wasn't just about staying on a plan to lose a pound, but, would really make a difference. Do your best, and, if you are worried, just let your doctor know. Chances are it will be fine.

Good luck!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.
