NSV (Non Scale Victories)

Recommended Posts

It's been a bad habit 2 weeks; not the best food choices, some WRONG choices, etc. Had TOM last week. Anyway, I 'knew' that I was up on the scale. So I stayed away. Big chicken that I am. Dad saw me yesterday and said "So...how are you feeling? How is the weightloss?" Told him I haven't weighed. But his asking me, made me think "Do I LOOK fatter?" So this a.m., I weighed. Down another 1.5. I coudln't believe it. So, my NSV was weighing less than I thought I would!!!

I went to the drs. yesterday and realized, while sitting in the waiting room, that my butt didn't fill the entire seat. Then, while at my sister's house, my butt didn't fill her entire seat either. YEAH!!!

I love love love NSVs!

Oh, and I lost enough weight that the dr. will consider doing something that he wouldn't do 70lbs ago....Best day ever!!!

I'm excited about having two NSV's on the same day. I put a ring on that I haven't worn in 20+ years and it fits comfortably. Then, for the second, and even more exciting NSV, I have a blouse on today that is an XL, that's right, not 3X, not 2X, not 1X, but XL and it's not even tight!

I love my band!:nervous

So I'm pre-band(7 weeks away!!!), but I have been losing weight before surgery(low carb) and would like to share a NSV from that! Speaking of body parts...I have collarbones! Always did, but now they actually sorta stick out! Looking forward to many more NSVs with the band!

I actually had a new nsv yesterday. My husband had surgery yesterday and while he was in surgery, I ran down to the cafeteria to grab a bite to eat. I took my food to go and was sitting in the waiting room eating. About half-way through my meal I realized that I had the styrofoam container sitting in my lap while I was eating. Ummm...OMG!! I have a lap...an actual lap that I can sit stuff on now and use. It didn't hit me until that point. I have never been able to hold something on my lap b/c my belly has always been too big. I must have looked like a dork b/c I sat there staring at my styrofoam box in my lap like it was an alien. Someone walked by and asked me if I was okay...I just smile and said yes. Crazy!!

I also went to Old Navy the other day and bought a new pair of pants...in the normal size section...size 14!!! Coming from a 22/24 size pants, I was thrilled. It has been 9 years since I could wear a 14.

LOVE my band!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
