April 6, 2015 surgery date

Recommended Posts

Hello, I'm new to the group. I am just five days out from my surgery, and down 10 pounds already. I do have a mental feeling that I need to eat something, but I know it's all just mental.

My sleeve was April 2. Down 14 from when I came home. Concerned I have hunger pains. Anyone else dealing with this?

Hunger pains? Mm I hope I don't get those and maybe it's just in the beginning while your new stomach recovers from being swollen!

Okay, had my post op today. Asked Dr. Pesta about the hunger pains. I'm stick with it. Requires more discipline then because I could want to eat more than allowed. Not happy. They hurt. Truly hoping it's a stomach acid thing that would calm down later. Oh well, losing so happy.

also sleeved on the 6th. I get bad tummy gurgles, but no actual hunger. although have had some head hunger, even in my dream last night.

Did your guys doctors put you on anything for the stomach acid? I have noticed mine gets worse if I don't remember to take my pepcid at around the same time each day.

Hi, I just got home from Juarez Mexico today - surgery was Saturday April 11th. I was given a 2 month supply of acid protector to take 2 times per day.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
