for those already sleeved

Recommended Posts

This may sound childish or naïve but I have a question. Can you tell you've been sleeved? As in, does your abdomen feel any different, from the inside? Grrr I don't feel like I'm verbalizing this well enough. Does anyone get my question?

@@erose321 Makes perfect sense. I wondered about that too. After all, they are removing a lot of tissue-- won't it feel different?

I can't answer for anyone else, but my insides feel the same to me! I would not know I had ever had surgery if not for the small scars and the restriction.

I feel totally the same. In fact the first month I used to have dreams (nightmares) that I forgot I was sleeved and ate potato chips. Ahhh in reality I never did and was totally fine. But to answer your questions you will not be able to tell.

At almost 8 months out, I feel completely normal. The only way I know I had surgery is the scars and I eat less.

I think at first, you're tender in that area, so yeah it feels different. But I don't think it's a " I just had most of my stomach removed" different. You just know something was done in that area ;)

I feel fine, except for my lower right side. I have a ventral hernia (not a hiatal hernia) and it could not be removed durning my sleeve surgery. His name is Herman and he needs to go bye bye!!

Since my weight loss he is protruding so much it is very noticeable. In clothes it's not so bad, but twice a month he gets rock hard and hurts like crazy. We will be discussing his removal on April 28th at my 6 month follow up appt.

Herman is what started the whole WLS process for me. The surgeon said she could do the surgery to remove the hernia but at my weight (over 300lbs) the recovery would be hard and there was a super high chance of it returning. 17 yrs ago I had abdominal surgery and was opened up from an inch above my belly button to my pubic area and had three tumors removed. That surgery plus the weight has made my abdominal wall weak so that is where the hernia comes from.

If I didn't have Herman I would only know, as others have said, that I had WLS because of my tiny scars and restriction.

from the evening in postop and till now 10 months out absolutly NO difference in feeling. NO pain from the inner tummy as in from a feeling of being cut. I wondered about this same question before but I really didn't care bc I was having it done regardless. I needed this tool and I didn't care what I needed to go thru I already live daily with chronic pain from lupus and fibro so it wasn't no issue for me. If the pain from the stomach itself being done don't fret. the outer few incisions were tender but for me it was manageable and the only difference I have like everyone else would agree is the restriction of not eating much which is why we get it! it's awsome!

I feel exactly the same physically. When I first start eating it feels the same too...but a few ounces later and my BFF, my sleeve, feels nice 'n full. :)

I cannot tell any difference. If I didn't know any better because of the very small amounts of food that I consume, I wouldn't know if I had actually had surgery or not. My surgeon was actually shocked at my last visit because I have healed so well you can't even see any marks from scars.

I could feel something was missing the first few weeks but now everything feels normal.

Immediately after surgery I could feel my entire stomach shift if I rolled on my right side while lying in bed. It was weird and uncomfortable so I usually stuffed a pillow there for support. I dont notice anything at all now and feel perfectly normal. I sometimes forget I even have a sleeve......until I start eating.

Nope. Other than getting full really fast everything feels the same.

I'd never know if it weren't for the fact I get full on very small portions.

I'm almost 2 months out and feel totally normal minus the smaller portions of food.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
