I'm crossing over to the SLEEVE

Recommended Posts

Good morning everyone. I'm a Bandster (since 2010) and now crossing over to the Sleeve. I was Banded in 2010 & then again in 2014 with a weight lost total of 100lbs. The first time around it slipped & just had lots of issues with it. Then I thought well since I had such great success with my weight lost & maintaining quite well, I will try another band. Well the first 8 months was smooth, but now I can't tolerate the fills sooooooooooo the sleeve is in the making. I go for my EGD next week & it's been (request for revision) submitted to my Ins. I've been doing lots of research on the SLEEVE as I did with THE BAND & learning a lot. I'm that person who follows Doctors orders 110% & hope to be Successful with the Sleeve.

Good morning I'm new to this but I was considering in getting the lap band but after doing my research I changed my mind and decided to go with the sleeve. My friend got the lap band couple years ago and it slipped on her she took a while in removing because of insurance issues & finally when she was able to remove she had alot of scar tissue. Everyone that I have spoken too says the sleeve is the way to go. I'm excited n scare at the same time I'm schedule for May 27 ready for this new journey.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
