I'm scheduled for August 11 :)

I started the process in January, but I thought my Feb apt with the surgeon would count towards my monthly appointments. It didn't, so I just had my last appointment on June 3rd. I'm hoping for an August surgery date, but I'm not approved yet. My surgeon's office still hasn't submitted to my insurance company, so I'm eagerly awaiting an approval and an August surgery date!!

I live in Nevada. I'd be happy to have some buddies as this process continues!

Hello everyone! I think.I will be sometime in August as well. I have had 2 NUT visits, physc eval, stress test, ultrasound so far. sleep study set for 6/26, last NUT visit on 7/10, and Endoscopy for 7/17. I'm excited and nervous but I think the sleep study has me the most freaked out. Lol! Anyone in Fort Lauderdale,FL area. Could use a buddy.

I had a home sleep study. I hear it's not much different than a sleep clinic study. I couldn't sleep in the same room as my husband because of his snoring. While the mask thingy bothered me at first, it really wasn't bad. Good luck!

I have to stay the night at the Oband Center here and I am not used to sleeping alone. Let alone in a strange place. I think what gets me freaked the most is that someone is monitoring me the whole night and hopefully I do not have to have something on my face. I'm a heavy sleeper and snore sometimes according to the hubby. I hope I will sleep. I usually fall asleep reading...other occupant in my bed is my Kindle. I wake up with it under my body most times.

Bariatric nurse823- I am guessing you are a nurse? So am I.

I am an Acute Pain Service Nurse based out of surgery. I assist with a variety of nerve blocks placed for pre op pain control and follow the patients post op.

I am 54, will be 55 by the time I have surgery. Looking forward to a healthy lifestyle!!

My surgery date is scheduled as August 12. As it gets closer I am getting more nervous. Figured I would join and see how others are dealing with the nervousness. I was fine until taking a nutrition class as the center where I am having the surgery. A lady was in there who was close to a month out and was having trouble finding things to eat. She said she often feels like stuff is stuck in her pouch and then has to throw up in order to feel better. This part scares me.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
