So I'm 4 days post op now and sleeping on my back is getting really annoying... How long after surgery were you able to sleep on your side without much discomfort?

For me, I used a side pillow, and rest it up against my side supporting my stomach. Prob by where you are now, I was mostly side sleeping.

@@RNYGal I'm on day 5 and still have tons of pain on my left side. I switch back and forth between my bed and recliner when I sleep but find sleeping on my side when I'm in bed actually relieves my pain. My Dr. also ordered me a belly binder so I wrap that pretty tight which helps with the pain as well. I'm hoping to be done with this pain soon it doesn't feel like gas anymore, more like somebody stabbing me in my rib cage ???? hope you get some relief soon!

Ello everyone!

I finally kicked the scale to the curb today.

I entered the three-week stall and just have been getting frustrated, so I'm now only weighing weekly instead! I should have known this stall was coming because there was a lot of hormones in my body because of my period! Hopefully this stall ends soooon, it's a little frustrating.

Hi Jenn

Yes, for sure, scale can be just plain frustrating. I only weigh myself once a week. Body weight fluctuates too much day to day. More accurate weight if weigh weekly. Just sharing my thoughts and how I manage weighing myself.

I'm not looking forward to the stalls. And I'm sure there will be stalls. ????

Hello all. What's the name of the app for timing yourself while eating?

Thanks

I use it every meal, and no vomiting or discomfort because of it.

Got it. Thanks. Have it now and it is very helpful.
My pleasure ????

It's so easy getting caught up in weighing everyday!!!! I admit I have been and need to quit. It's making frustrated, and losing sight I lost 42lbs in 5 weeks, totally takes away from that victory... I guess every Monday will be my new weigh in and measurement day. My stall has been for about a week and a half give or take.. I know the fat is redistributing itself right now, I feel it differently when being on my feet all day at work. I called my insurance, and asked about chiropractic work and its coverage. I receive 30 free visit a year yay.. So I'm definitely taking advantage of every session. Good luck My May Peeps and keep up the good fight.. We are doing it ????❤️????

Hi all thank you for your thoughts and prayers, doing good for the moment. a little bit of discomfort and neck pain but I still also have some liquid and air trapped in my stomach it was like doing the surgery all over again. so he's going to check my CT scan today well another one and tomorrow if he might let me go home tomorrow. He will have a nurse come by every day to feed me through the PICC line.

For some reason I just can't help but feeling like I never should have done the surgery. The doctor said this is a statistic that rarely ever happens but it does happen. so keep your prayers up for me and keep me in your thoughts and we all will push through this and it goes without saying that I love all you peeps here on this gastric bypass board

I also weigh everyday. I might still weigh everyday but only record my weight on Mondays!

I also hadn't had a BM for about a week I realized so I took some mag citrate and it took care of the issue! So I'm hoping this will allow my body to figure itself out! Like you, I lost 40 pounds my first 2 1/2 weeks. It's definitely a lot in a short period so I have hopes my body will straighten itself out as I'm sure yours will too! :)

Some days I'm up a pound or two so obviously, I'm not recording all the fluctuations... It's usually a pound or two difference.. But yes it's such a short period of time to lose all we did. It'll drop soon hopefully ????

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
