My surgery is next mon. In excited and scared all at once lol. I have been losing weight for the last few months almost 30 lbs. My dr said I didn't really need to do the liquid diet since I've lost weight but I am doing anyways so I'll be use to the liquid only after surgery.

May 21st

Still very tender and tons of gas pain. I need another hit of pain medication. They didn't give a pain pump, so I get to ask every 4 hrs for something to take the edge off. Dr said everything went great. I've not seen him yet so I look forward to speaking with him. I'll post more updates when I start to feel up to it???? post-242829-14308607885204_thumb.jpg

Outstanding! Start to sipping, and the sooner you can get to walking the better! Also, my Dr didn't give a pain pump either - be vocal about your pain.

No sipping for me yet ???? just ice chips. I just completed my first lap so yay on walking. I wasn't in as much pain sitting up as I thought I would be. Thanks for advice.

May 11 surgery date for me! Trying so hard to work through the pre-op diet and doing pretty good but did break down and had 2 ounces of grilled chicken breast on day 5 of the liquid diet. I had my pre-op testing yesterday and I'm starting to get a little nervous. This has been a very long process so I'm excited to be on the other side.

It's 5:10am and they just took my catheter out(thank goodness) and I was just told to start drinking from my CC cup.. My pain is at a 5 on a scale from 1-10. I have a pretty high pain tolerance. The gas trapped inside I think is the worst of it. I have been scared to move around in bed, scared I'll pull something in my new stomach area.

The Doc should be in at 6am so I'll post an update with his information. post-242829-14309037257431_thumb.jpg

I am on Day 2 post op and it does get better. I too had lots of gas pain and man has it never felt so good to pass gas. The pain is tolerable. The doc has me on hydrocodone and acetaminophen ever 4 hours. I got home at 8 PM last night and it felt great sleeping at home. I had some sf Jello for Breakfast. I am doing my best to get in as much Water as possible.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
