Stuck! For 2 months

Recommended Posts

I feel like giving up! Had my sleeve done in Dec 2014. I have lost 20lbs. I am on pain medication due to a car accident could this be why? I have had my thyroid checked....it's fine. I use the fit bit and track. But I do eat most of my calories at night. I'm thinking maybe the pain medication. Anyone experience this

Well Im not on pain meds but....I so feel your frustration. I was sleeved 12/01/14 and lost 20 pounds real quick, then it just stopped. I get my Protein in, drink lots of Water and nothing. Im not gaining, but not losing. I know this wasn't much help to you, but wanted you to know your not alone with this.

I feel the same way! Surgery 12/22. lost 50 lbs when weighed over 3 weeks ago,,, going up 1lb going down 1lb... have been tracking Water, calories and Protein, today starting to track carbs and calories too. Don't know WHAT TO DO! it really came off easily. I think i'll feel better when I see the numbers, going to nut in 2 weeks, want to go prepared. Dr.s office isn't very helpful. Have been feeling very tired, I spoke w/nurse she said to eat more veggies. OK THEN. Went to pcp and he is sending me for bloodwork. Could just be the winter blues. am also going to dr. about antidepressants, may need to change dosage.

Are you able to get in any exercise? Every month I change up my exercise routine to avoid plateaus.

Exercise is minimal due to physical limitations. Wear a fitbit, highest steps was 6000, but then had to take a few days off because feet were flaring up. Can's swim. Got "bands" in the mail this week, will try them. found a yoga show on Netflix, might try a light version as I have trouble with my shoulders.

You're still early enough in the process that exercise may not matter too much. It certainly helps, but lack of it shouldn't be preventing weight loss. So I'd examine other areas... Are you logging your food and Fluid intake? You should be getting in at least 60-80 grams of Protein per day and drinking 64+ ounces of Water. Are you drinking alcohol, fruit juices or sodas? Are you eating starches or sweets? Look closely and honestly at what goes into your mouth and you may find the answer. If not, I'd talk to your doctor or nutritionist for suggestions. A food log will help them to help you figure it out. Good luck!

I too have same slow issue but keep in my your Sugar. 2 days ago saw a movie called 'That Sugar Film' Australian documentary so when reading food labels be aware 4 grams of Sugar equals 1 'teaspoon' of Sugar. I was having Ice Blocks but they have 5 teaspoons of Sugar each! Recommended daily allowance got women is 6 teaspoons a day. If you can please watch the Film.

A few things:

1. Have you spoken with your nutritionist?

2. You say you eat most of your calories at night? Is there a particular reason why? Do you work split shift or evenings? If not, I would try switching that. For me I find that if I skip Breakfast I don't lose as well. My metabolism needs to be waken up early in the day. I also do better eating the majority of my calories before 4. My biggest meal of the day is usually lunch. dinner is often something like like a small salad or Soup. Doing this means that I get most of my calories in during the time of the day when I am most active.

Thank you so much! This has helped!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
