HELP... Day 2 post ops

Recommended Posts

So I got sleeved on 4/7/2015. Not sure if I've seen people talk about how truly painful this can be. The afternoon it was done and the next morning I was in a lot of pain and really didn't want to move. I must admit the nausea was terrible. On the afternoon of 4/8 things were looking much better for me. Although my main issue is skill having difficulty drinking. Even sipping it is hard. Is this normal? Also the top of my thighs are sore, has anyone experienced this??

yes, it can be a challenge. i actually had a difficult recovery with complications (see previous posts if you wish). it gets better and you can try Water at room temp., sometimes if it is too cold it can cause pain, for me, due to my inability to have any fluids orally for weeks, I can only drink water with a ton of ice in it and yes, it does cause spasms sometimes but it is the only way for for me and I really love water, always have been a water drinker. So, now check for lovenox injections sites - bruises, etc on your thighs. also, referred pain is often the culprit but in your case I bet just sore muscles. hang in there. hope you feel better!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
