That is a famous line in Funny Girl, my favorite movie. I am new to this message board, in fact I'm new to message boards all together. I am on the road o my surgery and have all my lab work done. My endoscopy is scheduled for May 1. My surgeon wants me to lose 40 pounds and I am down 12 as of this past Saturday. I only weight self on Saturday mornings. I am ready for this surgery and have lots of support in my personal and professional life. What I do not have is anyone to talk to and ask questions about pre and post surgery that has been through this process. That is why I am here. I 48 years old and need to lose a lot of weight to be healthy. I have been doing well eating and not missing the sweets and heavy carbs I used to eat. I hope my weight loss pre surgery continues as it has so far. Thank you for listening to me and for helping me find my way through this journey.

Hi! I find the best place to find information and ask question is the Post Op Gastric Sleeve Questions & Answers Forum (or the pre op one)! They stay pretty active and I have learned tons there.

See my username? I love Barbra! As a matter of fact, my parents wanted my name spelled just like hers on my birth certificate, but the hospital messed up and spelled it the more traditional way (B A R B A R A). I'll be 48 in June :)

Welcome, and keep us posted! Good luck to you!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
