Will these feelings of regret go away?

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone, it's been two days since I've had my band put in and I have all these crazy feelings of regret! i'm starting to feel like I rushed at doing this instead of really thinking about it. I have these thoughts of having it taken out immediately. Will my feelings change? Is there anyone else who is felt this way or am I the only crazy person.

Normal! Don't worry. Post surgery is an emotional rollercoaster of a time. Follow directions, cut yourself a break, stay off the scale, and before you know it, you will start to drop the weight and feel amazing.

Your whole life is about to change for the better. We are here for you!

three days after my surgery I was wondering what in the world was I thinking. It was scary to think about the changes I would be making and to not be able to eat like a lumberjack anymore. But after 2 years I can say it was the best thing I ever did for myself. I am happier and healthier than I have been in decades. Hang in there it will get better and you will adjust to your new way of life and be so happy.

I remember looking like I had been in a knife fight and now, less than a year and a half later, I can hardly find the scars. A couple have completely disappeared. All the anasthesia and any medication you may be taking can bring up a lot of feelings -- hard to process them when you're in discomfort from the surgery. Take it easy, be gentle with yourself and walk as much as you can -- hope you feel better soon!

The 1st few days I felt like I had been hit by a truck, but by the end of the week I was feeling fine ! Give yourself some time to recover from the surgery (it's A LOT of stress on your mind and body), and then watch what happens !! The weight will start coming off, the compliments will start coming in, and you'll be so happy you made the decision to get a stronger, healthier body !! No regrets here ! Good luck !!

Thank you all, I guess I can say I am feeling better today. Not as emotional as I have been. I am however starving! That is one thing I really miss, being able just to go and eat like a normal person.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
