Joz31 90 Posted April 9, 2015 So I had my final preop appointment yesterday with the surgeon, and everything is all set for April 23!! I'm so excited I can't stand myself, but have chosen to only tell my husband and my mother about my upcoming surgery. So I'm posting here to celebrate!! Lol! Anyway, my surgeon yesterday put things into perspective and told me that next year he wants me to tell him a story of something I did in the last year that I wouldn't have otherwise been able to do because of my weight. It just kind of hit me like a ton of bricks that in only one short year my life will be drastically different. I have been overweight since childhood so that is all I have ever really known. I wanted to get everyone else's input of things that you have done since your surgery that you would not have been able to do before. Also for those of you did that did not tell many other people about your surgery, afterwords did your coworkers and friends begin asking questions due to the significant weight loss and how did you respond? I don't want to lie but this is such a personal choice for me. Also I want to thank everyone on here for their posts and input; it has been invaluable to me in my research process. I know certain things get covered over and over, but to a new person like me all of these things are very helpful. So thank you all!
JamieLogical 8,710 Posted April 9, 2015 Congrats on getting your date! To answer some of your questions: Just recently I got to do something I wasn't able to do exactly one year ago. I got to ride on all the rides at an amusement park on vacation with my family! At the same park last year, I suffered humiliation after humiliation when I tried sitting in the sample seats they had out in front of the rides to see if I would fit. This year, no problem! I also told very few people about my surgery. All of my family knows, but only two of my friends/coworkers do. Luckily(?) I have lost and regained a lot of weight in the past, so most of them think this time is no different and haven't bothered to comment on my weight loss at all. By the time they realize I'm not regaining this time around, it will be too late for them to comment.
