Starting a new chapter in my professional life

Recommended Posts

I'll be changing jobs week after next and just had a thought... My new co-workers have never know me fat. How weird\wonderful will it be to have a truly fresh start? :)

I've been thinking the same thing! I'll likely be moving to Ohio within the next year and when I do, no one there will know I was ever fat!

@@bikrchk that is so awesome. I hope you have the best first day at a new job ever. I never stopped to think about who has never known me as I was before. Now I'm going to have to give this some thought:)

Im almost in the same boat as you :) . Im just waiting on the final stage of the interview process with my possibly new employer .. Its very exciting to be starting a new chapter in my life where i can walk, where people wont have known me when i was huge, don't get me wrong, i still have some way to go before i hit goal, but i honestly feel like the world is at my feet and all i need to do is take that plunge and start to really enjoy life for what it is!! I thank God for giving me a second chance at LIFE every single day!

Congrats on the new job, it is exciting to have new beginings especially where no one knows us and we cant be judge by our size. Keep up the great work.

The new head of my department only knows how I look now...not what I used to look like. So when he complimented me recently, it meant alot as it wasn't in reference to looking good as compared to before....but just for looking good...or should I say professional. FYI, the comment was not inappropriate in any way..lol.

Congratulations on your career change!

I too am starting a whole new life where the people I meet will not know that I was once morbidly obese. I keep wondering what that will be like. I am moving states in less than a week and will begin applying and interviewing for jobs.

Oh darn, that means I will have to go shopping for clothes and shoes to where so that I look great!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
