Hi all:

I feel like I want to write down some milestones that are huge to me. I had my sleeve surgery on 30/Mar/15 and the positives I am experiencing so far are:

  • No knee pain when walking up/down stairs
  • No lower back pain when walking or doing housework
  • No shin splints on walks
  • Stand taller
  • Confident to tell my journey about getting to the decision of surgery and how I am doing
  • Feeling the like opportunity to have Michelle Obama arms could become a reality
  • I am so close to hitting Onderland - it's been several years. When I do hit that milestone you will hear me across the world as I whooop whooop! LOL

I go to my surgeon for my first post operation assessment mid-day and really looking forward to it. I feel like I am doing great, learning how, what and how often to feed my belly. I haven't experienced hunger pangs so I am sure to eat (pureed) every two hours with plenty of hydration in between. I am pretty creative in fixing lovely, nutritious meals (then pureeing of course) so I have varied and delicious meals.

Thanks for reading.

Maggie

@@Magsqoti, super, good for you! I know it seems self evident, but feeling good feels pretty d@#n good, doesn't it? :)

I can't wait to hit onederland too, but regardless, I just feel so much better, stronger, younger, confident-er, healthier, and even smarter, for no apparent reason really. I s'pose it has to do with confidence.

Keep it up!

(PS to my grammar conscious comrades, I know confident-er isn't a real word and shouldn't detract from my sense of smarterness)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
