Has anyone had Dr. Mumford from the Surgical Weight Loss Centre in Toronto do their band? If so, what was your experience like with him? I'm going to have a consultation with him over the phone next week.

Thanks.

Jodie

He's an angel. Nothing less. Kind, knowledgeable, patient, supportive and will still give it to you straight if and when you need it. You couldn't ask for a better surgeon. :gluck:

Dr McMumford......

Did you not know that he's in lurve with me. Don't tell anyone else but from the moment that he met me, he lurved me for who I was. He lurved every little riple of cellutlite, every little (OK so every large) roll I have. He has lurved me "just the way I am". So you see that we are in fact having a lurve affair. It's OK with me if you meet with him and have a consultation. It's OK with me if you even let him do the surgery, but I'll be darned... that you havr fills with him. OK so I'm delusional. Do what you have to do...but just remember that he is still and will always be in lurve with me.

Sincerely,

McWheezy

Both Dr. M. & C. are good and kind and all that good stuff but the real important people at the clinic are the beautiful nurses. They actually do the fills and the follow up visits. You could not ask for better people to help you. All the staff try to meet your needs and are very friendly.

Be sure you are in good hands with Dr. M. and friends.:clap2:

What I love about them are fat, skinny or banded, they all have empathy for the overweight. They see us for ouselves and where else can you find that thinking in this world. Doddie

Dr. Mumford was my surgeon and I would recommend him to anyone. He said he would call the next day and he did...not typical of most men. LOL

On a serious note, the clinic you have chosen is by far "A World Class" Center. On the day of my surgery they made sure to make me feel comfortable and at ease. Honestly, I was not nervous at all. From the moment I walked into the clinic to the moment I lay down on the surgery table I was never alone. Dr. Mumford met with me before surgery to go over any questions and to instruct me on what would happen over the next 48 hours. When I woke up, in pain, he was there within minutes to say hi, tell me everything went well and to perscribe me liquid codene. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Mumford or the Staff at the clinic. To this day, they are all very helpful and extremely cordial.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
