I can relate to things not tasting the same and the lack of energy. I am having a hard time with the artificial sweeteners in the Protein Drinks. I am using Greek yogurt as my main source of Protein now. You will get through this your body needs time to adjust to its new lifestyle. Your mind wants it yesterday, your body will catch up. Stay strong Sam!

Yep i can relate, I am day 17 post RNY. My taste and smell is still not the same and just think it wont return. Nothing i loved before crystal light, coffee flavors nothing is the same. I am finding new tastes slowly. Now plain Decaf tea on ice or lemon slices in my Water only TONS of ICE. food agree is harder. I bought sample packs of syntax nectar Protein powder of all 14 flavors and have been working my way thru trying those. The weakness is starting to fade, or i am getting stubborn yesterday i made myself get on treadmill for 15min slow walking. At least it made me feel like i was moving more. Pain in left side, mine was horrible and swelled. It burst last Thursday and had a seroma abscess and was infected deep down. Now it is open and i have to pack it everyday until my one month visit. Yes this could have made things more down for me and it did the first few days, that is when i decided to take control, deal with my journey i chose and get on with it. So i have been pushing hard on mood, movement, and fluid/proteins to move on to next phase. It is all i knew to do with the constant negative happenings.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
