I wish I had found this before and shortly after my rny. But better late than never. Maybe someone still looks at this forum.

I'm exactly 4 months out today, I have lost around 60 lbs. i have had a few complications. Most recently I had a scope done , I think it was called an EGD, and they found I have an ulcer. I was having trouble keeping food down, I thought I was eating too fast. I'm a little frustrated. Plus I feel I haven't lost any weight for a few weeks. And I'm having some Constipation problems.

Other than that I am feeling really good. Better than I have in a really long time.

So how is everyone else doing that's 4 months out??

HW 359lbs

I'm doing great! My cw is 279 lbs. My dr says I'm 5-10 lbs ahead of his schedule! I've thrown up here and there. But I pretty much know now what to stay away from. I was off my bp meds, then put back on. Just got taken off again today because I've been near passing out and my bp today at the dr office was 100/60. No wonder! My first set of blood work isn't until the end of June. I'm a little nervous. But we'll see.

And there's quite a few people on here. And there are some regulars which make it nice.

I'm sorry to hear of your complication. What are they going to do?

The Dr put me on some meds for the ulcer, I will have another scope done on May 1st to see if it is healing. I'm not sure what will be the next step if it doesn't heal. It seems if I graze or eat only "sliders" I am okay, no throwing up. But when I eat more solid food, any type of meat it usually ends up with me suffering.

I know the grazing and eating soft food doesnt do my weight loss any good, but Im not sure what else to do. As I am sure the vomitting can't be good for the ulcer either.

Suggestion-Low fat cottage cheese and lite greek yogurt have a good amount of Protein.

Hoping the medicine will help!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
