2cc in a 4cc/hungry??

Recommended Posts

I have a 4cc band, have been filled 2cc's. I can eat an 8oz lean cuisine and still be hungry. Is that normal??

I was filled 1.5 cc then 2 weeks later .5 cc which was 4 days ago.

Shouldn't I be full on 8 oz of solid food?

There are a LOT threads in the Lap Band Fills section on this very topic.

I would warn you that a band can tighten up a week or 2 - 4 weeks later. So your restriction just may be around the corner.

When you get near 3.0cc's THEN you will really feel restriction......at least that is how it was for me.

Wait a while, you might be in for a tightening up experience.

Good luck

Band life is great.

Don't feel bad. I have a 4 cc band and I had 4.2 cc's in the band and I didn't feel the physical feeling of hunger, but I could get food down very easily. I was tighter in the mornings and I didn't even eat anything until about 1:00 or 2:00 pm. At dinner time I could pretty much eat whatever I wanted. I stopped eating because I wanted to lose/maintain my weight and not gain, but I could eat a lot of food. I don't understand what is going on. I feel like my stomach just adjusts to each fill!

I am at 2.5cc in a 4 cc band and sometimes can not eat more than 4 or 5 bites of food and other times I can eat more. It seems to change any given day. When I was at 2cc it seems as if I could eat a larger amount of food. I am really concerned about getting another fill but I am stable at the weight I am at and want to lose another 30lbs. It has been 6 weeks since my last fill. I do notice that I seem to tighten up approx. 2 weeks or so after my fills. It is very strange!

At 2 cc's I could still eat everything and wanted to! It took until I hit 3cc in my 4cc band before I really have restriction. Tried to eat 1/2 a scrambled egg this morning and a small sausage patty, was really careful and after one bite of each I had to quit. After about a half hour I Pb'd and all was well. Waited till lunch and was able to eat a rueben sandwich?!?!?! It was a homemade one, very small and didn't eat any crust and it took 40 minutes but was able to eat it none the less! Give the fill you have a little time to see what happens, drink lots of Water or snack on healthy things if you're really hungry and not just having mind hunger. People kept telling me I wasn't hungry....bull#@&*. If they would sit beside me for a little they could hear the hunger pains! I haven't had hunger pains but once or twice since the last fill (aprox. 3 weeks). Good luck!!

It seems to be so individual. I am doing good. I have lost 30 pounds since I was banded 2 months ago BUT I feel lilke I have been on a starvation diet for the most part. I am afraid to eat more than a cup or so of food because I am afraid I will stretch my pouch even though I am hungry a lot and rarely fill like that pouch is full.

I guess I was hoping for a more satisfied feeling. Honestly the only thing that has kept me from just pigging out is fear of hurting myself and wasting the $16K I paid to have this done.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
