Off/on malodorous flatulence

Recommended Posts

So I was wondering if any fellow banders have the same issues that I am having. I suffer from Crohn's disease (an autoimmune intestional condition) that already can cause problems. So could it just be the new "protein first" diet? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks

I don't know if it's due to my skinnier butt cheeks, but(t) some have escaped recently in social settings and OMG that never used to happen. I was mortified.

I guess in the grand scheme of things it's just another one of those #skinnypeopleproblems.

It's probably related to the high Protein diet.

Thanks JustWatchMe, I haven't had the pleasure of "skinnier butt cheeks" syndrome yet, but maybe one day. Hopefully this will get better, but if not I guess I will continue to laugh it off. I have done that since being a little kid, always found it funny. Thanks again for replying.

Wait ... are you saying that you get to have days when you DON'T have gas that could bring down a herd of t-rexes??!!?? How did you get to be so lucky?? Honestly, I feel like this is the new "normal".

I had terrible I.B.S. before surgery & it got better but I still have a lot of gas especially when I eat certain foods , I also try to be close to a Restroom just in case because I never know for sure if it's just gas but the I.B.S. is not as bad as it used to be .

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
