I was banded in 2005. Lost 85 pounds and then had bad reflux. They took Fluid out in spring of 2006 six and I have been struggling with yoyo diet ever since. I decided to get the band out and get the sleeve. Was just approved today. Now I am wigging out. I didn't think I would be approved and now it becomes real.

Yeyy!! I'm so happy for you!! You will be very happy. It's all worth it in the middle and the end! My mom has the band and she has a hard time. I wish she would get the sleeve.

I am a band to sleeve revision patient as well. I was banded in 2012 and lost 50lbs. I have since been suffering from being "stuck", reflux, night sweats, port flipping... And a host of other complications. All that made it extremely difficult to maintain any weight loss as I resorted to slider foods and light exercising due to the discomfort. My revision is scheduled for April 22 and I'm super excited!!! I'm much more confident in what the VSG will help me to achieve on my journey. Good luck to us all!!!

I can relate Sha_Michelle! I wish I started this process sooner. It has been a long time dealing with the band and its issues. Please let us know how your surgery goes. I should get my date on Tuesday. It will be so nice to have a date finally.

Hello all can I ask how the revision process went for you all? Did you have to start the process over. I am tired of dealing with being stuck, vomiting, heart burn and off and on port pain. I have a consult with the PA on Tuesday. I can't remember if my last appointment with her was a defill or a fill. My first thought was to just get thing thing out then I researched and hope to be approved for a VSG revision.

Adriej,

I had to jump through all the hoops again to get approved. 4 months of doctor supervised diet, appointment with dietician, and another psych eval. They also did an endoscopy to see if there was damage from my band.

I know what you mean! We thought we were done with the band and now we have to do it all again. :(. It goes by quickly. I do think this is going to be a much better tool than the band. Good luck to you!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
