:help:

Would anyone believe my luck Sunday after noon I took a nap and when I woke I was so nauseated I started getting sick, attempting to vomit, diarrhea, the whole nine yards. It was aweful and painful and I was scared out of my mind. I ending up panicing and getting diaphoretic. My kids called my sister she's an EMT for the local fire station so needless to say I took an ambulance ride to the hospital where they hydrated me and gave me antinausea medicine and morphine. They said it was almost like I had the flu. The next day my 12 year old was home vomiting, with the flu. Go figure. I called my sergeon and she said that some times it happens and as long as I was no longer vomiting then surgically I was fine just to rest. I'm very discouraged I havent really had a good day since surgery. I think at one point I was saying, I dont want to do this anymore! Any words of encouragment I need them.:straight

Iam going to be a year out tomorrow and I had the same systoms last Monday but with abdominal pain on the my right side. I was doubled over in pain! I was sent by my surgeon to the ER. I was told to have an Ultra sound done, blood work and urine test. I was found to have Gastroenteritis- Viral Intestinal Flu. Its an infection of the intestine. Its been more than a week and Iam living on dry toast, rice and hot tea.

I have lost about 60 pounds in my one year I go for my one year follow up on Thursday.

Its going around, I hope you feel better soon!

Lisa

I sort of know how you feel... a little over 2 weeks post-op I got the worst upper chest infection and cough... nothing to do with surgery... but thank goodness it was after the stitches and incisions started to heal - I can't imagine having to cough that much and that hard just after surgery!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
