rte837 141 Posted April 8, 2015 I would DREAM about grilled cheese and tell my brother he was eating KFC and macaroni the wrong way!! Hang in there. It's not forever; just for now. Distract yourself somehow. 3 weeks out is just too soon. You'd probably get sick and really regret it.

aelovelady 243 Posted April 8, 2015 Don't do it! The process the surgeons have to use to fix a ruptured pouch is disgusting. Mine went into great detail with me prior to releasing me from the hospital. It is a full open surgery, nothing laparoscopic and it takes months to heal from. Stick with the program, you will be glad you did!
pingram11 10 Posted April 8, 2015 I had laparoscopic rny done @@aelovelady
aelovelady 243 Posted April 8, 2015 Yes, but if you rupture your pouch by eating things you shouldn't thry will have to cut you open, from breastbone to belly button to clean you out and repair the damage.

kcadoret 81 Posted April 9, 2015 I've been finding the head hunger the hardest part of post op recovery. I am two weeks out and nothing I have eaten yet had given me any trouble, but it's also given me a false sense of security. Last night my head hunger was maddening so I had 2 tbsp of Cheerios in milk. It was so good, I wanted so badly to gorge myself on a regular bowl like I use to. And don't get me started on the temptress that is shwarmas....

kcadoret 81 Posted April 9, 2015 Hi @@pingram11 Yes I had rny done on March 26th and beside the one time I forgot and gulped Water I've felt nothing from my new guts! I've tried a few things I shouldn't have (including a crouton and bite of pizza) and have had no ill effects, I've been able to eat 1/2 cup of food at a time. I was really looking forward to the added tool of dumping syndrome to regulate what and how much I ate, but with the way things are going I don't think I'll be experiencing that It's a catch 22 I suppose!
