Wow. I really changed a habit.

Recommended Posts

It's been over a month since I started a new thing in my day. I started a routine of walking stairs at work.

Three times a day I walk down 4 flights and up four flights. That's 24 flights of stairs a day. 504 steps.

I do it midmorning, then midday, then midafternoon.

I do this five days a week.

And now it's really a habit. It's easy. It's my routine. I don't have to think about it anymore. I just do it. So much so that I'm considering adding another set of eight flights because I'm often getting my three sets in before lunch.

This is what my new life post WLS is all about. New habits. New patterns.

I'm not a gym rat. But I love to walk now. I also started walking outside on my lunch hour at work. On the days I do this, I easily get in 2-1/4 to 2-1/2 miles. On my lunch break. With arthritic knees yet. This habit is about three weeks old and I do it when the weather permits. So much better than sitting in my car for an hour with a lunch of fried chicken strips.

I need to put this out there because my weight loss has slowed. No, stopped. I want it to start again. I want to lose the last fifty. The first hundred was awesome. Time for the last fifty.

I believe it will happen. If this old broad can make these two changes and enjoy them, anything is possible.

You are going to have GREAT looking legs! I need to start doing this, and not just to clean the litter box that is in my basement! Maybe I'll actually get the basement cleaned up, now!!! GREAT inspiration! Thanks!

Speaking of walking stairs, I was recently notified by a friend of mine that he wants to walk up the Statue of Liberty and look out from her crown. He wants me to join him. Oh my! I haven't walked up that staircase since I was about 12 years old.

Ass, better ass? I lost my ass, and a great one to. If anyone finds it please respond. Now ladies, just the ass, or at least some of it. Pretty flat back there.

Lol. My legs and ass were always ok. I wish I could lose this belly though.

Climbing up and down stairs or hill walking uses two different sets of muscles. One when you go up and one when you go down. I consider it to be a better form of exercise. If you do it for a while and you walk on a flat surface, it feels almost like you are gliding.

Way to go on the stairs; that's so great. And probably nice psychologically, too -- a way to be "away" in your head on your own for a little break during the workplace day. You are doing beautifully and we always have these lulls in the scale number. Meanwhile you are beefing up your beefcake and that's fantastic. Don't worry -- you are getting there! I so know what you mean about the belly. I was Mrs. Winnie-the-Pooh and am glad to be able to see straight down now. It's flubby, though, and it's a difficult area to tone. I'm working on it but I also suspect I will always look like a woman who carried a few babies, even though we adopted, lol!. Oh the pregnancy weight you can put on while waiting for a baby. I'm now at the point of trying to get off my last chunk as well. I love being a woman who could stand to lose 20-30 pounds versus one who needed to lose 80-100. Hallelujah.

INSPIRATION ALERT!!! I work on the first floor of a five-story office building. @@JustWatchMe, after reading your post, I left my office and ran up to the fifth floor, across to the other stair-well, and back down to my office. My lungs are burning and my legs are rubbery --- and I feel great! So thanks!!!!

I inspired @Rogoflum? This is a red letter day!

I don't sprint them all at once like you did. I walk down two flights, back up two flights, down two flights and then go to the ladies' room to breathe! Then back up the two flights to my desk. Lather, rinse, repeat two more times during the day.

Yay for exercise at work!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
