It was such a strange feeling I had to look to make sure it was really an ankle bone...lol WOW my swollen ankles are goooone..hang in there everyone we are in for the ride of a lifetime. I had a similar experience. I came home sat on the couch and realized my feet were thin for the first time in years. It had been so long since they had not been swollen I didn't realize how small they are.

Congrats on your NSV and here's to many more to come.

I know the feeling. When I returned to work from my medical leave I put back on my dress shoes and they were all too big. That is a great NSV!!!

My swollen feet and ankles have been a huge problem for me. I am less than one week out of surgery and my ankles are thin! I love my beautiful ankles :) It is so great not to feel pain in my feet for the first time in a long time.

Congratulations! I was so excited today, I've worn heels. All day! And haven't been tempted to take them off for more than a minute or two. I haven't worn heels this long since I was carrying my son, four years ago!!!

During one of my after pictures (I took them every 10 pounds) someone I showed the picture too said, oh my gosh, look at your poor feet in that first picture. I hadn't realized how swollen my feet were before except when I would try to run.

Enjoy the process, you have a lot more NSV's to come!

My recent wow moment was realizing that I was sitting with my legs crossed. I hadn't been able to do that for years and I did it without realizing it. Keep up the good work!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
