Well, I have been considering WLS for awhile and some people at work have done it, so everyone knows and everyone has been supportive of these individuals. I am very happy for them. They work in different areas of the company than I do.

Just this week I had one lady come up to me and gave me the low down on how hard it was for her to drink fluids just for 3 days, and how weak and tired and shakey she was. She just went on and on and on and told me how she had considerd this and her BMI right now is 25.1 or 25.5, SMH. After she told me all this, she then proceeded to tell me, well it is really not my business. Why open your mouth to begin with? Actually at point I am tried of talking to these busy bodies at work. {rant} My supervisor who I told, said he does not like the idea of surgery. It causes more problems.

I now regret saying anything. So I recently had a kidney stone and have been having gallbladder pain but they found a cyst which has cleared up, but I do have a small hernia. It is hard for me to keep my mouth shut sometimes. But in this case I think I will just tell them I was denied (hopefully I will not be). If I am out for surgery, I will just tell them it is for the hernia. They have seen me on Atkins before, so that will settle that issue of why I will be eating different. I did like the hemmorhoid idea. I can just tell them I am now a perfect a** hole

@@finediva just curious... what did you tell people when they asked what you were doing and how you lost he weight? I plan to not tell people although my significant other knows, we live together. My 19 year old son knows and a close friend and nurse that I work with knows (she's my sister from another mother and our small children goes to the same school). She had lap band surgery 3-years ago and I know her secret. She would die if anyone knew so if she tells mine I will be telling hers.

What was your response to questions about your weight loss surgery???

@@spiritfilled It is so hard and that is the reason I don't want to tell anyone. I don't want to regret it later and I have a feeling that I will. No matter what just keep your attention on your goals and say what you want, do what you want. You GOT this!!! Keep me posted, so happy to read your post.

@lisaanewme67. I'm at a little over nine months out and I've lost the weight soooooo slowly that it's believable to anyone looking that I'm eating less and exercising. And it's true. I joined a gym in December and pretty much live in my workout clothing. Interestingly enough, not many people have asked how I've lost the weigh. People do mention the weight loss, but just sort of congratulate me, I say " thank you" and that's it. If people are thinking I may have had WLS no one has asked.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
