molfish62 3 Posted April 7, 2015 I'm getting married in 2016 (currently debating about the date, lol) and was sleeved on 3/7/15. I look at dresses online sometimes but I won't be shopping until at least the fall. I have a fabulous alterations place and I know if I get a dress in they will be able to get alterations done quickly & beautifully, so that's not a huge concern. I am more worried about how flabby my arms will be - but I can always buy a dress with sleeves.

samuelsmom 670 Posted April 11, 2015 My son is getting married in August of 2016. I am enjoying all the wedding prep. I think it is more fun this time around than when I was the bride. Lol! Many bridal shops have some amazing seamstresses who can do great alterations. I am planning on getting my "mom" dress early next year. Congratulations to those of you getting married! dlmadeja27 30 Posted April 11, 2015 So Im not going to lie, I have been drooling over wedding gowns lately and have found some gorgeous options for when Im ready to get my dress! I cant wait for next year!!!
missmeow 156 Posted April 13, 2015 I would plan it for at least a year post-op. You will be going through a lot of physical and psychological changes. A lot of people break-up or get divorced. I would not add the pressure of a wedding potentially make things worse. The surgery can also bring people closer together too. But I would give it at least a year. Stacyc311 36 Posted April 14, 2015 No! But I wish I would have had this done before my wedding. I got married on 7/11/2014 ! Good luck!
erp 2,016 Posted April 14, 2015 I am getting married this weekend. I would suggest buying a dress off the rack if you are less than a year out from surgery before your wedding. A dress can only be cut down so far. I had to order my dress last September to get it by the end of the year and was told 8 weeks for alterations. Had I still been losing versus at goal, there is no way a seamstress could have kept up with my body changes. Good luck and enjoy the process or better yet, elope! Commander 12 Posted February 1, 2016 Hello all, I'm having surgery March 24 and getting married Oct 8. I would have preferred that the timing was better..... But whatcha gonna do? I'm on the lower end of the acceptable BMI for surgery, but still have a good deal of weight to lose. Id be happy to drop to 175 (150 would be a dream)... I haven't told anyone other than my fiancé that I'm getting surgery. Everyone keeps telling me I need to find a dress... I don't plan on telling anyone, though we'll see how that goes once I start losing weight. How did you handle getting your dress? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
