HOW LONG BEFORE YOU GOT TO MOVE TO FULL LIQUIDS

Recommended Posts

I was on full liquids the same day of surgery. I haven't done any cream of anything because I have worries about milk. I am just about 1 week out and would kill for some things people get. I am happy my surgeon is cautious but I want to chew… even mushy eggs.

Morning.......

Week 1-2 ...... Clear Liquids Only

Week 3-6 ....... Soft Mushy/pureed foods

Week 7-on ...... Try small amounts of food, one at a time.

You have a brand new baby tummy. Think of it that way. You can only start like that. When you feed a baby, you only give little bites at first and then a month or two down the road, you try another type of food.< /p>

Ohhh....don't be afraid to try new foods, your palate is different now and it is really cool the foods you will try.

DRINK Water, PLENTY OF Water

I don't even like eggs and I can't wait to have a mushy egg in a few days. Just a couple bites will be so nice. I also want some applesauce. I see my doc tomorrow for my 1 week post op appointment and he said I should be able to.move to mushy foods.

I was on full liquids pretty much immediately. I was nil by mouth for the day of surgery, but from Day 2 I was able to drink milk and eat Soup.

I was on full liquids for week 1 and 2, purees for week 3 and 4, soft foods for week 5 and 6 and from next week will be able to move on to a normal range of foods.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
