April 1 Sleever - Need help getting enough water in?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I'm four days out of surgery. Having a very diffucult time getting enough Water in. I flavor it a little bit just for more of a taste but with the Breakfast, lunch, dinner and two Snacks ( all liquid of course) having difficulty with a very full feeling in between to get the water in.

Also, is anyone taking gummy vitamins?

Feeling very down right now with the pain and constant full feeling. Hope it passes.;{

Thanks.

I am going to guess that your issue is just how close you are to your surgery date. I am 12 days out at this point and have been getting better. Your pouch is still pretty swollen so as it heals you can fit more in. That being said, I am not always getting all the Protein and Water that I need, but I am getting better. Give your surgeon a call and see if he/she has any advice, but I think you are probably ok. Day 4 for me included 1 Protein Drink (11oz-30g protein) and about 40oz of Water. Everyday should get a little easier.

You and I were sleeved the same day. Today I was able to get 17 oz of water and half of a Protein shake. I'm just trying to take it day by day and so a little more then the day before. Per my Dr I can't start Vitamins until tomorrow.

You are going to get there.

If you are still on Clear liquids, then any liquid you have counts. I'm post op day 2, and supposed to get 48 oz of fluids per day and 70g of Protein if I can. The NUT told me to focus on fluids first. I know I won't hit 48 oz today, but I'm not worried because I had an IV all day before I left the hospital.

I was sleeved 4/2 and am on clears until my followup with the surgeon on Friday. I've had no trouble with getting 50+ oz of fluids in since I came home, which I attribute 90% to dumb luck and 10% to mixing it up throughout the day. I can't do plain Water early in the day, so I do diluted apple juice or crystal light. I've been having a small cup of tea in the afternoons, and some broth in the evening. Keep at it. I'm sure you'll get there!

Also, I'm currently jealous of your Protein shakes... Who would have thought?

      Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

      The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

        Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
