Skorts! Who knew?

Recommended Posts

I just posted about this on my "Sizes and more Sizes", but just wanted to let all the gals in on this wonder of wonders! I have such difficulty finding appropriate summer clothes for someone my age and size, and I'm not alone, I know! I just received an amazing item I ordered off of QVC.com, from the Women With Control line, their skort! I haven't seen skorts since I was a kid! This is a heavier knit skort (a skirt with a short built in), and it has a control top!!! It is a swingy skirt, and it comes in several colors AND in petite sizes as well as regular. I ordered both regular and petite to see which would work for me, and BOTH do!! I washed them, no shrinking evident. This is quite a find for me, because I'm still on the fence about shorts, and I like to have something cooler to wear. So have fun with it girls...if you need more info on the product, just ask on this post and I will get it for you!

What a coincidence. After not having come across one for years, I just bought a skort in a really fun print this week. It was at a local consignment shop. I wasn't sure if I could get away with wearing it, but your post gives me permission.

Oh yeah, this will be my undoing (I AM easily amused, after all!)!!! These things will last for years, and I am thrilled I found something to replace shorts! They never did look good on me. Maybe we'll start a trend!

I just checked them out. I am so excited to buy some, but I am still fitting into clothes in my closet at this point.

I have never posted a photo because of privacy concerns, but I just might post a pic of me in my new skort. I want to be a trendsetter.

We may be just starting a trend here! I am loving mine, I got them in olive, navy, back and cherry. For fun, I also got an olive and a navy in the petite, for a little shorter, sportier look. I plan to wear them with sneakers, and also sandals. The nice thing is they look good with the shirt tucked in OR left out! We are having WAY too much fun here (like I said, I am easily amused!!!)!

Have fun on that shopping spree! I went to Shopko today, while visiting in Billings, Montana, and found some great leggings by French Laundry. Who know I would be in a size medium already?! I like them because they are firming and don't show the "jiggle" as much!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
