I had surgery yesterday and just now starting liquids again. I can swallow just fine but as soon as it hits my stomach, it spasms something horrible!! How long should this last and is there anything I can do to help?

Hello. I had my surgery 3/16/15. I also had this issue. It gradually went away by 2nd week.

Try drinking luke-warm Water instead of cold. Not hot, just softly warm. And SIP gently. Good luck to you, this WILL pass!
