I'm curious - for those people who are a month + post op -- What is your average diet on any given day? Do you go out for lunch or dinner? How does it work for you?

I went out to dinner with a friend who had the sleeve a few years ago, she was comfortable going out to dinner and ordered a regular meal, had a few bites and took the rest home. Is that normal? I usually only go out once a week and wonder if I'll be able to do that again.

Any and all info much appreciated. I really love this board and everyone has been so helpful.

I go out to dinner or Breakfast all the time. Well 2-3 times wk, breakfast my go to is scrambled eggs and cheese and a sausage roll. Dinner usually chicken salad, Red Lobster I get the salad with tiny shrimp on. Salmon with broccoli is a go to at OCharlies. Most places have chicken or fish and order a veggie. I bring at least 1/2 if not more home. Good luck

Once you are cleared to eat more normal food, you can easily go out to eat. The first month or so is tough ( I always ordered soup), but now I find the healthiest option (usually fish or chicken with veggies) and take most home for lunch the next day! The part I still have trouble with is the drinking with meals. Servers usually look at me funny when I tell them I don't want a drink or just order Water and don't touch it.

I am 3 weeks post op. I've been out atleast 10 times. I always go to a place where they have Soups, (Jason's Deli, Panera bread, Chinese Restaurants, etc...) I normally get chicken noodle or a broth... wonton Soup, egg drop soup, etc. I normally ask for more broth than noodles or veggies, and find myself struggling to eat 1/3 of the soup. I sometimes leave it, or take it home, but I never finish it. And I have yet to drink the Water. I'm still new at this, but hopefully it will get easier. I agree with the post - wait staff have looked at me funny when I ask for water but don't touch it. I feel bad and find myself explaining like hey, I had surgery and need to take it easy. Then I get a somewhat sympathetic look, like ohhh, okay I get it. But, I'm hoping soon that I will just be comfortable not giving an explanation at all.

Hope this helps, best of luck to you.

You will get comfortable enough to not have to explain. I used to worry so much about what people thought about how little I was eating, but the honest truth is, they weren't paying attention at all. Same with the drink. I'll order Water just to have something in front of me, but won't touch it. I'll get a funny look once in a while, but I'm getting used to it :)

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
