I'm not against a little movie theater popcorn but not this soon out. Seems like a really bad idea.

I agree. It's still too soon.

At 16 months out, I still have not tried popcorn. I am afraid the hulls will get stuck along the way. Also, carbs are not my friend, I am sure that even if I could tolerate popcorn, it would have power over me. When I over-do anything, Miss Tummy punishes me for at least four hours, and she is the boss of me.

I am a movie popcorn addict. Thats the main reason I go to the movies. You are just to early in the process to eat popcorn. It is something that is hard to digest and you just aren't ready for that yet. If you are looking for salty foods try some low-fat Soups or mix unflavored Protein powder into foods that are on your approved list.

You just don't want to hurt yourself or delay the process. It will get better and you will be able to have popcorn again. but not for a few months.

Stay strong

well glad you didn't eat the popcorn but the frappe isn't good either loaded with sugar. I read a story on here that hit home for my food addiction. You will no matter what lose the weight at first but if you don't change your eating habits and learn to eat right from the get go you will gain it back. So I hope you do whats best for you and good luck in your journey. It is a hard road to go but if you just do it right it is worth it!

Atkins makes a candy coated candy that are like peanut m&ms and a chocolate covered peanuts. They would be great to take to the movies. I haven't been yet since my surgery , if I go , I think I would rather sneak in a 100 calorie pop bag than waste money on popcorn that I might have trouble eating.

Sounds risky! Ask your surgeon to be sure. That’s the safest.

You’ve worked so hard to get where you are now. The last thing you need to get some popcorn stuck among the stitches in your sleeve and cause it to split open. You could even get popcorn stuck in your throat (just like a non-WLS patient) and cough really hard – no big deal before surgery, but now before you’re fully healed, it could lead to needing more surgery if you cough so hard you split the sleeve.

It's hard to appreciate how smoothly your post-op recovery is going until you have a setback...and then you wish you could go back in time! Good luck.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
