Stephanie Stroup McIntosh 157 Posted April 6, 2015 Limit fat and sugar before your surgery. That is the most important part. If you have been eating well and losing weight during the pre-op your doctor may not be as concerned. Sugar and fat are stored in the liver and the liver has to be held throughout the surgery so you want the least amount of excess there as possible.
KingMoose 238 Posted April 6, 2015 The only pre-op diet I had was the week prior I was on just Clear Liquids and Protein Shakes. This is mainly to shrink your liver to make it easier for the surgery. The day prior all I could have was Water till midnight. If you don't have a fatty liver you may not need to go on a strict diet.
