Well, Congrats !!!!

My sleeve was performed on 11/21/14 and to date lost 72 pounds.

Just remember to take it one day at a time. You will not loose weight in 3 days. It too you however many years to put the weight on, and will take a good year to remove what you are willing to work for.

Breathe and relax, enjoy this ride. I did not notice any difference until maybe 1-2 months into my weight loss. Your body needs to adjust, you need to adjust.

The only real good advice I can give to you is: Your surgeon performed surgery on your stomach, not your brain. It is up to you to work hard to get what you want in this new beginning.

I am proud that you took the first step. It is not easy, but once you get into a routine, you will love the new you.

Annamarie.......

Hi Butterfly I had my surgery on 3-30-15, so I'm right here with you trying to navigate this sleeve. We can support each other through this. What I've found out so far is that it gets better every day. Yesterday a few sips of Protein Drink Was painful. Today I can still feel it going down but it's not painful. It's just a strange feeling. In any case hang in there and get plenty of fluids and rest.????. Let's support each other.

@@Butterfly85

Had surgery on 3/31. It was rough! So much pain & nausea! Ouch. But now am feeling good with minimal pain & no nausea. Eating Protein shakes now & focusing on getting the right amount of liquid in a day. My only problem is that I haven't had a bowel movement yet!

@@Butterfly85 I had surgery on March 25th and it went well. I know I'm like a week ahead of you but I'm here if you need to talk. I am trying to make sure I get in all of my Protein and Water. I try to walk every day. Each day gets a little better.

I had my surgery on 3/31, too. Happy to connect.

My surgeon also repaired my hiatus hernia during the surgery. I stayed 2 days in the hospital. I'm doing mostly liquids and a little pureed. I find the Protein shakes to be the easiest right now. I had a hard time the first day and night with heaving. Early on it was the anesthesia, but once it wore off, I started to realize that the vomiting was related to the pain button. Once I stopped with the pain meds, the vomiting stopped. My heartburn was pretty bad the first 3 days. It's getting better now. I'm on prilosec or nexium. Working hard to get my Water in. Sometimes Water hurts when it goes down. Trying to take very small sips of water. Sometimes I forget and take a big gulp - that hurts! I had a little bit of a headache today. I need to push water and get more Protein in.

The only thing that concerns me is the soreness in my chest and back and pain when I try to take a deep breath. I'm asthmatic. I suppose the surgery is rough on the body and I know that the hiatus hernia was pretty high up. I'll give it another few days. Meanwhile, I'm practicing deep breathing to exercise my lungs.

Glad to be on the other side of the surgery, though! Honestly, it wasn't that bad.

@vida81 I didn't have one for 4-5 days, and then it was followed by 2 days of diarrhea. Everything has been back on track since then. Your body doesn't have much bulk in it right now to form a BM.

@@jenna777 I began reading your post and had to scroll back up to make sure it wasn't my post, lol! Aside from the hernia my journey has been identical to yours. I am really worrying about the chest pain but am trying to give it about 2 more days, if it doesn't go away by then I'm at least going to go up to the hospital and have it checked out. Let me know if yours gets any better.

@@liannatx it's encouraging to know I'm not the only one at day 4 who hasn't had a bowel movement. That too I'm giving till Sunday and then if no bowel movement then getting that checked as well. But u2 ladies just took my fears down a notch at least. Thank you and the best of luck!!

I had mine on 3/30. I get to start squishy foods tomorrow. I thought I wasn't going to feel hungry but I did today and felt discouraged.

Hi everyone,

My surgery was on 3-30-15 and i stay in the hospital for 5 days due to compliations like chest pains and vomiting. I also had a prior hernia up high along with asthma like you Jenna777, so I wasn't sure if this can work for me. However, I just was released today and very happy to finally be home.

Hi all I'm so glad you guys are sharing your experiences. I too had hernia repair and deep breaths are painful. Seems like whatever they do in there, this is a common after effect.

Hi everyone! I was sleeved on 3/30 too. When I woke up I had such severe nausea that I had to stay two nights in the hospital. My first thought was "what did I just do to myself!" But it has greatly improved and I'm starting to get my Protein and Fluid in. Not at the recommended amount yet but more than yesterday. So that's progress. Tomorrow is another day. ????

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
