Question regarding 7 weeks post op

Recommended Posts

I'm just curious - at 7 weeks post-op, what was everyone's weight loss and what kind of exercise were you doing?

There's no magic answer. Every one is different. Different height, weights, body types, etc... Some people lose fast, some people lose slow.

This question comes up probably once at day. You could do a search and find tons of threads asking this very same question with just as many answers.

At 7 weeks, I was losing weight at my fastest.... about 4lbs a week. I hadn't done any strenuous exercises, only the doctor recommended walking - 30 minutes a day. I wanted to be very sure I was well on my way to healing before pushing my exercise limits.

I was sleeved February 18th. HW 254, SW 242, CW 218. I'm 5'9 and 42 years old. I've walked 5 to 6 times a week making my way from a mile to three miles now. I walk the 3 miles in an hour. I'm now losing at a rate of 2 lb per week. I've lost a total of 72 inches (I measure EVERYWHERE). I can bend over and pick up something in my car floor board now. Those types of NSV'S are what I enjoy most. I've also gone from a size 22 to an 18.

I am nine weeks post surgery. STarting weight 237.9. Day of surgery 218. Current weight 190. I exersize 6 days a week. I walk on the treadmill or do the elliptical 40-60 minutes and lift weights. My doctor had no restrictions so I have been working out since one week post op, just didn't do abs and of course duration and intensity has steadily increased.

Mine was a revision surgery. I only lost 19.5 pounds at 8 weeks post op. I have barely exercised because of a bone spur in my foot has made it very painful to walk. I'm hoping to get it treated in a couple of weeks so I can start my walking again. I still think my weight loss will be slow even with the exercise but my goal is to try to lose 8-10 pounds a month.

Lsf what's a revision surgery? So curious...

I had the lapband in 2008 and just had it removed on 2/4 and had the sleeve done at the same time. From all the posts I've been reading, those that have had the "revision" surgery are not losing as fast as those that are having the sleeve. But I also had an easier time adjusting because I had been through it before with the band

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
