Stall...at 10 days? Any thoughts?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I had surgery on 3/17 and lost right away, as expected (I believe)....... but I have not lost even 0.1 since 3/27.
I am on a blended/pureed diet for the first 30 days post surgery.
6, 2 oz meals per day.....yogurt, refried Beans, Protein Shakes, etc. Nothing solid.
I am walking about 2 miles per day and get b/w 50-64 oz Water per day (Doc says minimum of 32.)

Anyone else stall THIS early?

I'm feeling so anxious about it it's making me crazy.

Step away from the scale. You didn't gain overnight and you won't lose. The scale will only make you crazy. Take your measurements (neck/boobs/waist/hips) and then retake them every 3 mths. 5 days without a loss is no big deal. As long as you are doing what you should the weight will come off.

It just seems very early for a stall.

*Stepping away from the scale*

Thanks

I like the description of the weight loss trending into a pattern like stairsteps. It will go down a pound or two, maybe stay the same a day or two, another drop, and so forth... with some inevitable stalls or plateaus. But it will continue downward in steps. It is unlikely that everyday will have a loss. Every week may not even have a loss, but the downward trend will continue.

I had a stall 3 weeks after my surgery (2/10/15)...for 2-3 weeks! But I am happy to report that I stopped getting on the scale and noticed that my body started feeling smaller. Even during that non-weight loss period, I was able to get into smaller pants! :) AND...I lost 4lbs a week for the last 2 weeks.

Your body is catching up to your weight loss. Just stay positive and keep your head in the game! :)

Don't weigh yourself for about a month. Concentrate on Water, Protein, Vitamins and healing. I rarely weighed, so I didn't even know I was in a stall unless it lasted 2-4 weeks. Believe me, I was a lot happier than all the posters on here that stress about every little number on the scale. If you are following your plan You will lose weight whether you step on the scale or not. Just enjoy the NSVs.

I'm day 10 and GAINED 1.4 today. Um...

But including my pre-op diet I"m down 15 pounds and I have never done that. There is nothing to do but move forward.

Your weight varies based on your hydration. Maybe you were just more hydrated today. I wouldn't be worried at this point unless you have been eating things that you aren't supposed to eat.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
