Having trouble not overeating at nite

Recommended Posts

HI I was banded on May 10,2007. I lost about 18 pounds immediately from the all Liquid Protein diet but now that I'm 51/2 weeks and eating soft and some regular foods I seem to want to overeat at nite. I don't seem to feel that full from my band at all and wondered if anyone else was experiencing this too. My weight loss has slowed down considerably.

Hi - I was starting to feel that way just before I got my first fill. When are you due for a check-up? Your doctor may suggest a fill. But then

you will have to be VERY careful about eating s l o w l y. I am having

some trouble with pb'ing. It seems even though I try to eat slowly, I cannot keep some meals down. Maybe I cannot get used to eating such small amounts! Good Luck!! Nanavivian

Hi, Thanks for your comments. I probably won't have my first fill until the end of August because I live in florida and am Mass. for the summer. I hope that's not too long to wait because I don't want to stop losing weight. It seems that I have no trouble getting food down and no side effects. Thanks. Missym

did your doctor not have a plan to see you 4 or 5 weeks after your surgery? I am scheduled on the 28th of this month and am ready. They say that is when the real issues of eating right are very important. I am counting the days till the 28th....

good luck

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
