Pee color and water intake

Recommended Posts

So I've been super strick the past few days with Water I got 100oz yesterday. And was curious. As the day went on I noticed my pee go from dark as hell yellow to clear yesterday. Today I woke up and my pee is dark as hell. Is that normal or should I try to drink more at night?

I know weird but I'm curious!

Perfectly normal. Once you start drinking again it will go clear again.

Most medical folks will tell you that clear urine is the sign of too much hydration -- what you should be aiming for is the color of pale straw. But check with your own doctor to be sure. And yes, darker urine in the morning is normal, it's just because it built up overnight. ^_^

Yeah my pee has like a yellow tint. but later in the night it's super clear. But good no know!

P.S. does any of your pee smell? When I haven't drunk Water in awhile my pee smells as if I went poo but I didn't lol. Just me?

I agree with bufflehead. As far as the smell, You are super sensitive to smell right now. I had a rough time with smells. It was all off. It is normal now but man it was tough. i couldnt even stand the smell of my Shampoo cause it smelled like mildew to me. Your pee smells the same as it always has it is just that you are experiancing a high sensitivity.

One thing to keep in mind is that if you're taking your Vitamin B, that's going to turn your pee *very* yellow at times. Also, if you're still doing Protein shakes and getting most of your calories there, your kidneys are going to be a bit stressed, which can make your pee darker, too (and smell funky).

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
