I'm 8 days out and almost outta my pain meds. I see my pcp tomorrow but idk if she can refill my prescription since my surgeon prescribed them to me. I don't see him till the 13th. I had a hiatal hernia repaired through my belly button and that incision and under it and around it still really hurts. Idk what to do. Has anyone else needed refills. I know a lot of you are hard asses and didn't need them lol.

Your pain should be easing up soon. Have you tried a gentle, low heat heating pad or hot water bottle? Make sure it is not too hot. Try to do something to get your mind off it, and don't forget to walk - that will help the muscles get back to normal. All the best to you....

Will regular Tylenol help? IDK, sometimes it works for me as well as the prescription stuff... but I am one of those hard asses with a ridiculously high pain tolerance : ) I do agree that CanyonBaby is right about trying a heating pad. It will help soothe and relax all those sore incision muscles.

The only thing about the Tylenol is to make sure it is ok by your Dr. I was allowed liquid Tylenol for my arthritis, but ONLY rarely, especially right after surgery. It's always something, huh?

Tylenol doesn't faze it right now. I walk every hour. Helps gas lol. And I don't have a heat pad. How much are they?

They are not bad, but vary greatly in price. You can probably get one for under $20, but then again, I haven't shopped for one for awhile. And they come in lots of sizes for differing reasons. They have some with an automatic turn-off, which is great and highly recommended. One thing, though, don't over-use it. Maybe call your Dr. for suggestions on how long to leave it on there. Good luck to you!

I had significant pain for a full 2 weeks...forget OTC pain meds. Be honest and direct with your surgeon/primary care doc...you'll get what you need.

My dr allowed liquid childrens advil for pain but some drs dont because its an NSAID and can increase bleeding risk. So ask your dr before trying that suggestion.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
