4 days out... So weak & tired. Anyone else?

Recommended Posts

I have done great so far. Had long flights home after surgery & tolerated them well. But today I feel so weak, run down & tired. Very lethargic. Been napping all day. Just kinda hit me today. I'm getting in my juices, Water & broth. I hope this is just tiredness from all I been thru. Does this stay this way for awhile, or should I expect weakness for awhile?

I'm 1 week out today, and I still feel fatigued . I haven't had to take naps the past few days, but I feel like maybe in doing too much and I need to just lay down and relax . I don't think I will feel back to normal until about week 2. Good luck and congrats!

Are you drinking Protein drinks yet? I was able to start those (clear ones) and Vitamins on day 3 and instantly started feeling better.

Everyone is different in this regard, I was weak for weeks! If you feel it is unusual, call your surgical team for advice. Make sure you're getting your fluids in as well as your Protein. Baby yourself a little!

You mentioned long flight home. Did you have surgery in Mexico? I'd say being tired on day 4 is perfectly normal for anyone who is post-op, period. Having to endure a long flight on top of that is even more reason to be tired. Get your fluids in and let your body rest.

The traveling probably has something to do with it but I am still tired 8 days out. I have noticed that if I do not get some form of Protein in every hour and tons of Water, then I am brain dead! It also got better when I was able to add small amounts of soft food Protein.

I'm 3 days post op. Just got home from hospital. That's really my only complaint is I feel like a weak little kitten. Just keep fighting, drink you Protein and Water, take at least 4 to 6 short walks daily. We will get through this!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
