5 days out - Are Eggs ok?

Recommended Posts

Glad i found this forum, it has been somewhat uplifting to read the struggles and successes. I had some severe buyers remorse yesterday. I was just obsessing over the fact i couldn't have the foods i have grown up loving. Specifically I was obsessing over Lemon Filled Glazed Donuts...lol, i know...but i was. My wife (who has also had gastric bypass and is doing great) laughed when I told her I actually looked up pictures of donuts on the internet.

I had been feeling extremely weary yesterday too. Up until yesterday I had had nothing but liquids; no Proteins at all. I had about 1/3 a Protein Shake yesterday afternoon and it really seemed like it may have worked. I had the rest of it this morning, and then I felt like it may be ok to switch to a bit more solid Protein, so i had about half a scrabbled egg for lunch today.

Am i moving too fast? My paper work from the doc basically says stick with Clear liquids until they no longer are keeping you from feeling weak and weary (typically day 7). Then it says to switch to mushy proteins.

Hopefully I'm OK. I'm definitely struggling...still regretting this somewhat, but I know the final outcome will be worth it. Or at least I hope.

I am wondering the same thing...I want mushy beans! I'm 7 days post op and have been on Clear Liquids amd now full liquids. I'm keeping everything down, even tried yogurt. I feel in ready for more but my paperwork says 1 week of full liquids. I'm tired of liquids lol #thestruggleisreal

I know it doesn't seem like it right now but, it gets easier and goes by relatively fast too. You'll be eating regular foods in no time.

I just wrote on another post about how I google image my favorite foods!!! Glad to know I'm not alone. Lol

It actually helps me get over the cravings.

If your surgeon gave you an eating plan, I would say stick to that. I'm in my Week 2 post op and trying foods from a limited list. eggs and refried Beans were on there so that's what I had for my first food. Her advice says yogurt goes down best but I learned today that that's not true for me. If it went down well then it's probably ok but double check with your surgeon.

Hi all, I'm two weeks out from surgery today. I've been on a liquid diet for 3 weeks now (including the week prior to surgery) and I don't see my surgeon for my post op appointment until this Friday the 24th. I'm supposed to be on the liquid diet until I see my surgeon on Friday, which will put me at almost 4 weeks on a liquid diet. I.am.so.sick.of.liquids. I'm at a point where I feel like I'm going to give in and eat something I shouldn't. So tonight I bought some low fat cottage cheese and cream of chicken and mushroom Soup. I haven't been given the go ahead to eat soft foods but if I didn't have something different, I was going to go crazy. I only ate about 1/4 cup of cottage cheese (if that) and about 4 ounces of the cream of chicken soup. Not feeling sick or anything so I'm guessing I can tolerate these two items. I feel kind of bad about having these prior to seeing the dietician and surgeon but eating these is better than eating something else that we shouldn't have right? I feel fine! Actually I feel great because I had something different.

I am 6 days post op, I have been on full liquids since Friday. Yogurt, cream Soups and pudding are all on my list as long as I am watering them down. I have just been using a little bit of unsweetened almond milk to do that. I was on a 2 week liquid diet post op. The struggle is real, but I don't dare do anything until I am told. My biggest fear is that if I do I'll postpone getting back to work. pureed foods are next after I see my dr on Thursday. I'm getting closer to soft foods and I can't wait.

I am 1 week out today and on pureed foods for 8 weeks. on my diet list is hard boiled and egg mashed up with mayo, I am allowed 2 tbs or 1 oz. The dietician said lot of people have probs with scrambled eggs and do hard boiled first.

2 weeks post -Op I feel the same way about jumping ahead, partially because I'm tired of the 3 mushy foods on my list but mostly because they are mostly carbs ( oatmeal, mashed potato cotta chz)

I feel like loose scrambled egg would be ok to jump to a day or two early - allowed on Wednesday - just to limit carb intake and amp up Protein

Also, I'm worried about how easy the soft foods are going down and how I feel I can eat a little more than the suggested amount 2 tbsp. did anyone else have this experience regarding fullness - or lack there of???

keeping Water intake steady - reaching over 64Oz most days :)

I am 6 days post op and saw my surgeon for follow up today. The Protein Shakes which I have loved for the last year were getting the best of me and it was at the point I could barely get them down. I tried salmon and it was the best 2oz of salmon I have EVER had! I have also had Greek yogurt. I noticed that the salmon filled me up much more than 5 oz of Greek yogurt. Tomorrow I am going to make it my job to get in all my Protein and Water without a single dip of a Protein Shake.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
