I had a lap band, loss about 85 pounds, got a slippage and decided to have a gastric sleeve. I had the sleeve January 2013. I never had the no hunger situation. I loss a few pounds initially. Now I am ten pounds above the weight before the sleeve. I am thinking about a resleeve procedure. I would love to hear from you if you resleeve and if any success. I am having a issue with my parathyroid and now will be having surgery. I am a NP and can't find where that has anything to do with my weight loss. I also workout, have a personal trainer.

I have tried everything. I get my 60 to 70 Protein in everyday 25 to 35 carbs in. They told me eating too few calories to increase to a 1000 calories. Some days feel like no restrictions. I was told to eat more beef.

There are other posts in this forum from others who were also successful with the band and not the sleeve. I was not one of the band success stories and like the sleeve much better. I think they went in for xrays to see the size of their sleeve

Ok thanks. I had my sleeve in Mexico. I have an appointment with the surgeon that did the band in the states. I will try to find the post before resleeve. Thanks again!

I had been obsessively looking into being resleeved as well as mine is very large and misshapen as evident in my x-rays, I've now decided to revise to the MGB, I've done a ton of research and while I NEVER imagined even considering a malabsorption procedure, it really sounds very promising. There is a small group on here if you would like more information. However, if you are dead set of resleeving, IMHO, Dr. Wilhelmy in Mexico was by far the best I found for the job. Best of luck to you!

He is in Mexacali, I think it's $7900. He is one of the more expensive but what I found was he had the most experience with revisions. I have seriously OBSESSIVELY researched for a couple months now and I would never even consider Almanza personally. From what I've found the best of the best in Mexico are Wilhelmy, Corvela, Ramos-Kelly, and I'm going with Rodriguez in Juarez. The self-pay/Mexico forum on here is VERY helpful, just put in the surgeons name and you will find tons of reviews. If money is why you are considering Almanza, I think the Ramos Kelly is very reasonable and also Dr. Illan who I also think is probably very good but got a lot of bad publicity because of his coordinator, you can read through the drama for yourself if you would like there is A LOT of it and its definitely a soap opera but in the end, i could not find anything or anyone to say he was not a great surgeon and I think he is probably in the $4k/$5k range.

The endocrine system is a very delicate balance. I had thyroid cancer 30 years ago and they removed 90 percent of the glands. This test costs $2.50...maybe it might help you. http://calciumpro.com/ and there is a test from the Canary Club that can help you discover other issues. Hope this helps. :)

I had Almanza. He did a great job, I've had no problems with the sleeve ( in fact he turned it into a relentless ogre - it works great) , his staff was professional and friendly, they were with me the whole time, and it cost 4500 including the flight to San Diego.

Did you have Almanza for the sleeve or resleeze? I was thinking about a resleeve with him.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
