So, today is my 10th day post op and I have been wondering how long do I have to wait until I can use a girdle or corset belt to, you know, help shaping and keep things in place. Do any of you know?

I would think several weeks to a month or more? That large incision remains painful for weeks. I'm at week 3 and it still bothers me. However I do wear a shaper tank under my shirts, and that is actually comfortable, so I really don't know how the waist cinchers would feel.

Maybe someone that has worn one will reply.

You are recommended by some surgeons to wear a compression tank top otherwise girdles or corsets I would not recommend til 6 wks or so when the swelling in your stomach as completely gone away. When you speak of keeping things in place do you mean skin? Or I'm not actually sure what that means sorry. I used a compression tank top for the first month and it helped with the discomfort I was feeling in my stomach. Good luck to you.

Yes, I am referring to skin, as the weight loss is beginning and it will be fast, I want to do something to help reduce flaccidity. Thanks for the compression tank advice :)

Where did you get the compression tanks?

You can find them just about anywhere, from Walmart to higher end stores. Look under 'shapewear" and you will find a variety of tank tops and shaper tops. I like the ones that allow you to wear your own bra and fit right underneath the bra. They don't create the Uni-boob look, LOL!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
