faav 26 Posted March 29, 2015 Hi what you think about driving at the 6 day after the surgery short distances inside the city. (10-15min)
Slimsoon1988 123 Posted March 29, 2015 I drove my 6th day and was back to work on my 7th. As long as you are not on any pain meds and you feel you can handle it, then drive slowly and do what you got to do.
McButterpants 2,846 Posted March 29, 2015 I drove a on day 7 and did fine.
Elode 8,093 Posted March 29, 2015 I was driving on day 7. You need to be completely off any narcotics first.
Kindle 8,667 Posted March 29, 2015 I tried to drive home from the airport day 3 but it was a blizzard and the visibility was shitty and the roads were icy so I ended up staying in a hotel. Drove the 5 hours home day 4. Plowed my driveway when I got home, drove all over the county running errands day 6 and back to work....which involves driving a 13,000 pound mobile veterinary office day 7. I could have driven the day after surgery but was in TJ and you gotta be crazy to drive down there!
BLERDgirl 6,417 Posted March 29, 2015 The main concern is driving while under the influence of narcotics. If you are no longer taking pain meds I don't see anything wrong with it. I was cleared to drive at my 2 week f/u but that was because I specifically asked about it. I didn't use pain meds in the hospital or get my prescription filled upon discharge. If I had thought about it, I probably could have gotten cleared a lot sooner.
sharonintx 1,275 Posted March 29, 2015 I drove on the 3rd day. I wasn't on any prescription pain medication and felt reasonably ok . No problems with driving.
fox99 19 Posted March 30, 2015 My dr says you have to be off all narcotics and pain free enough to be able to check blind spots and behind you.
