I am 58 years old. I had my Gastric Bypass surgery March 2, 2015. My surgery was at Baylor, Scott & White in Temple, Texas.

I started running a High fever the day after my surgery. My lung started to collapse. I had to stay another day. I went home the third day but had to return to the hospital for IV fluids twice that week. The nausea was awful. Not fun!

I am now 4 weeks out of surgery. I am still having vomiting issues. I have to wear the nausea patch that people use for motion sickness. That helps! The Zofran doesn't help at all. Things should be getting better but not. I am depressed and I keep asking myself "What did I do to my body!" I am going back to see the surgeon tomorrow to see if things are really okay. I can't live on the Patches but I can't keep on vomiting all the time either.

Also, my restless legs are worse after my surgery. Things have to get better!

Anyone having the same problems?

Hang in there! Sorry you've had a rough go of things. I had a little vomiting early on but it was from mechanical issues if that makes sense like from eating dry meat too fast or too fast in general..I would get the foamies and then everything would come up and I'd have to start over on the slow train. My first bites have to be slow, like real slow. Hopefully, your surgeon will have some ideas for you.

I am sorry to hear about the hard time you are having. After surgery my body changed. I was lactose intolerant. That condition corrected itself after about 2 months.

I had RNY gastric bypass, and the part of my stomach that processes fats and sugars was disconnected. Therefore if I consumed those items it would lead to a quick trip to the bathroom. Over time, the lower intestines begin to mimic the stomach and will begin to process these items.

The only time I experienced nausea was due to dumping, when I consumed too much at one meal.

It took me 6 months to reach my happy state, when all the problems, big and small, seemed to disappear.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
