I'm heading down 4/23, I would like to find someone around the same time as well, I'll probably be traveling alone.

Yes it would ! Are you getting sleeved ? Is it your first surgery ? I'm having a revision. Iv read lots of great things about Dr. Rod and even though I'm still scared to death I feel he is a competent well credentialed well reviewed surgeon.

Dr. Rodriguez did my band 9 years ago. He is a very nice man and very experienced. I will be getting a revision. I am nervous but excited.

Oh that's great ! It says a lot that you are returning to him, that makes me feel even better! I was banded also, I did very well until I revised to the sleeve and Iv struggled ever since, it didn't work for me at all :( I'm revising from sleeve to MGB.

What was the problem with the sleeve? I am revising from band to sleeve. The band was a nightmare for me and all I have done is gain weight since I have had it done! Now I am nervous about the sleeve, since you had problems with it!

Iv read lots of stories from others who revised from band to sleeve and did very well, I just wasn't one of them. For me after living with the band for 6 years removing it was like opening the flood gates, my hunger increased and I had very little portion restriction. I know now that my surgeon used a 42 Bougie and I had a lot of scar tissue so my "sleeve" has always been large and misshapen so since my revision Iv actually gained almost 15 lbs :(

My band has not been filled pretty much since I got it so I have never had any restriction. I am hoping the band hasn't done too much damage in there, I am nervous about that. Where did you get your sleeve from?

That's prob a benefit for sure, I kept mine very tight right up till the day of surgery. My revision was in Ohio.

I will hopefully be going on June 26th. I wanted to come on the 12th but didn't work out for me

Too bad you couldn't do the 12th, we could have been band buddies!! :)

It's still up for debate. I should hopefully have my final decision by the end of the week. I will be getting a sleeve when I go.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
